Ship Security Assessment (SSA) :-
The ship security assessment is an essential and integral part of the process of developing and updating the ship security plan.

The ship security assessment should include an on scene security survey which should address as a minimum the following elements :-

Identification of existing security measures, procedures, operations;

Identification and evaluation of key ship board operations that need
protection;

Identification of possible threats to the key ship board operations and the likelihood of their occurrence, in order to establish and prioritize security measures

Identification of weaknesses, including human factors in the infrastructure, policies and procedures

Develop a Ship Security Plan (SSP) :-
A security plan shall be developed based on the ship security assessment that identifies equipment , measures , and procedures that are to be employed in maintaining security on board the ship. The SSP is designed to protect persons on board, cargo, transport units, ship’s stores or ships against the risk of a security incident.
